I got the part as Juliet
Dear Caroline,
This probably sounds like not a big deal to you but it is to.You see I'm an 11 year old girl and I go to this drama course. It's a hobby of mine. I'm the youngest there. Everyone else is aged from 13 to 16. Anyways, were putting on this play at the end of the month. It's called Romeo and Juliet. (I'm sure you've heard of that play). I got the part as Juliet and at the end I have to kiss Romeo. I really fancy the guy playing Romeo in real life and I'm really excited about kissing him.
The teacher said we'll do the kiss when the play is being preformed but I'm really nervous to do the kiss because I'm only 11 and I havn't got my first kiss yet and I don't want to screw it up on Lee(the guy playing Romeo).Lee is 15 and I'm sure he's had loads of experience in that sort of thing.
The drama teacher said when she called out my name to say I got the part she said "I hope you won't mind kissing Lee at the end.But I'm sure you've no worries because your such a pretty young girl and I know you've gotten your first kiss by now".I tried to tell the teacher that I hadn't.And anyways, there is one guy I want my first kiss from and the problem is he's 16.What should I do? This all probably makes no sense but if you read it carefully you might understand it.
Thank you soooo much!!!!
From,
J.
Hi J
Listen Sweetie, You're only 11 and you shouldn't have had your first kiss yet really!!! or anything else for that matter!!!
My advice to you is do your very best at playing Juliet, a part any girl would dream of playing, and when it comes to THE KISSING PART, just close your eyes and give him a kiss, no tongues or anything!!! just a plain little old mumsy kiss and think of of it like that too. there'll be plenty of time and opportunity for you to kiss a lad when the right age and time comes, your ejust acting at the moment anyway just get on with it and don't get carried away!!!!!!
When I was your age I was still playing with skipping ropes sweetie!! and etch a sketch that sort of thing, I never, ever even thought about fancying a lad of 16 years of age, that's a mature adult boy, and well 11 is still a minor age your still a child (sorry to say that) You really must be careful and not really think about these age boys, because what they'll be thinking wont be on the same younger age wavelength of you.
So go and enjoy your acting experience, don't get too carried away, and Please wait till your time has come at least till your 16! its all legal age and consented by that age, don't throw way your childhood by trying to grow up far too soon. Have a word with your mum. I'm sure she'll give you a few words of wisdom too. Too much too young is really not a good thing and you don't want to regret it later do you?
Have fun, enjoy your days and wait till you get older to fancy boys of 16, at least wait till your 16.
Good luck
R
Caroline
