OK, so I'm in my 40's!
Some say 'Life begins at 40', well it certainly did for me. I have never been one for a number get the better of me and 40 is just another number. Working full time and keeping the family organised certainly keeps me on my toes and it's not always easy.
What's My Secret
I'm pretty sure my lifestyle has something to do with it and the attitude of trying to stay positive always helps.
I have never been on a diet but I am aware of what I eat but I don't snack as much out on unhealthy foods, I try and stay clear of pastries and fatty foods, the best things I snack on are fruit and raw vegetables. I do detox a lot, i.e. drink lots of water both hot and cold, it's very good for moisturising from the inside. And I like herbal tea. Caffeine isn't good for you in either tea of coffee but I do drink both but more as a treat after a good healthy meal out.
Coping with stress is also a factor, no matter how hard life gets and what it throws at you, as long as you have support and understanding from the people around you, then even the major upsets and believe me I've had a few, can be dealt with in a clear and positive way. It keeps the wrinkles and crows feet at bay! Remember coping with stress is easy if you let it be, all you have to do is relax, take time off from chores they don't all have to be done right away! and you can't do everything your only human, remember!
One of my key strengths is exercise. I don't go to the gym, I simply exercise at home with some stretches before I go to bed but probably more importantly I owe a lot to my 'Jane Fonda Workout' which I put in the video 3 or 4 times a week for 10 minutes, I must have used it for over 20 years, the tape is well worn, but has been worth every penny!
Being in a loving and understanding relationship also helps. Make sure that your partner knows that jobs around the house have to be shared and involve all family members by giving them a few responsibilities for the weekend! It's their house too remember. You hold the reins, just ask them to help out a little and if you're cooking and washing for them, they should be only too happy to help you out, it works both ways!
Sex can be great when you feel healthy and alert and if your being helped around the house and everyone is pitching in, it makes you happier and more responsive to your partner so you will feel less tired and want to have sex.
So, what's my secret? Well it's really common sense, eat well, communicate well, do what needs doing, keep your family happy, have priorities and take time out to relax to do things that make you feel good. You don't have to get everything done in one day and remember your only human so give yourself a break.
