Hello,
I'm trying to find out the history of various mechanical elephants in Morecambe and Halton nearby in the late 1940's and early 1950's. I'm aware of Frank Smith's and his son Eric Smith's elephants. A company called Macades (local businessmen by the name of Albert Heritage Wade and George Herbert Mackintosh, both of Morecambe) bought the Smith's patent and manufactured elephants. Some were made by Mr Benirski of Luneside Engineering nearby at Halton. Any information greatly appreciated.
Regards, Reuben Hoggett. reubenh at mail.com

You may be interested in these webpages on Mechanical Elephants in Morecambe. http://cyberneticzoo.com/?p=4747 and http://cyberneticzoo.com/?p=5011 .

I'm looking for a photo of the elephant that used to hang in the Luneside Engineering building? Anyone know of it?

I'm also looking for relatives of the late Mr. W. R. Toole who lived in the Morecambe area.

Are there any Benirski relatives out there? Also Marian Abramczyk and Michael Kolat who were the last of the Polish to retire when Luneside close down. Maybe somebody from the Polish Centre in Lancaster could help?

**Update 17 May 2011 - Via the efforts of Eric Smith and David Taylor, I now have some of the pictures that were on display inside the Luneside buildings. I don't seem to be able to add pictures to this forum, but the pictures have been added to http://cyberneticzoo.com/?p=5011 .

I'm also looking for relatives of the late Mr. W. R. Toole who lived in the Morecambe area in the 1970's.
