hi all,  we are a couple in our mid 40's with a 12 year old child and we are thinking of moving to morecambe.  would we be welcomed into the general community or would we be seen as outsiders?  are there any particular areas of morecambe that would be described as hotspots which would be better to avoid moving to with respect to higher than average levels of crime, obviously, living in an inner city area as we do now, the crime levels are bound to be lower anywhere in morecambe compared to the midlands!  also, are the secondary schools quite good?  many thanks to anyone who replies.

Hi

We moved to Morecambe 18 months ago and really love living up here.  People here are generally pretty friendly. we've found, and we certainly don't feel like outsiders.  Sorry, don't know anything about the quality of local schools as our boys are now grown up.

With regard to location, it's best to come up and have a look around and get a general feel for the town and decide what's important to you - eg close to schools, close to shops, close to the prom.  Morecambe's not that big, so everything is pretty handy.

How people look after their homes is always a good clue as to the type of neighbourhood.  There is quite a lot of rented accommodation in Morecambe, and you can usually tell those properties as they tend not to be as well looked after.  The better areas tend to be more expensive (as is the case anywhere) but even so you can still find a nice home at a reasonable price. Bear in mind that in the more built up areas parking can be a problem.

Good luck with your move.  I hope everything goes well for you.

Brenda

I am sure you will be most welcome in Morecambe. I lived there for about 15 months in the mid 40s when I was 12 years of age. years later my mother moved back there when she was 77 and had not problem at all in settling in. She spent the last 4 years of her life there and loved every minute. I think Morecambe is a wonderful town. Good luck with your move. If I was not sort of tied down over here I would be very tempted to move back there. I  have always loved being by the sea
