I'll keep this short for you Wink.

A few weeks ago a good friend of mine asked me if I'd be willing to help him on a long, difficult but fun project.

He mentioned he'd be willing to re-open the old Frontierland park, putting it back to it's former glory just like Geoffrey wanted it.
Ofcourse, like any, I got excited and overwhelmed by this idea, but it wasn't all fun and games, we had to do some heavy research on getting back the parks land, how to cover ride expences and a lot, believe me a lot more.

Now, we want to know what the residents of Morecambe think, we want to know if what we're doing is the best for Morecambe. That's why we need you to help us out in this poll, please take your time and add a reply if you have any other option(s)!

At last! someone who can see what Morecambe so desperately needs.  Something that will give people who currently don't come here a reason to visit Morecambe and something that will appeal to families with older children.  But please, not the old Frontierland theme!  It is so dated, and can be so tacky.  We'd like to see something more 21st century, smart and high tech.

We hope you get enough support for this project, as we believe it would definitely be the start of Morecambe's re-emergence as a premier resort.  We have a beautiful location, let's get the visitors back!!!

Hey Bayfolk!

Thanks for your response. We have done a fair bit of research into the site how it stands, and there are currently some plans for quite a big development of flats, houses and a pub!

To pull this project off would need a huge amount of support, and it would also take some convincing to Morrisons! There is a lot of work (expensive work) that would have to be carried out before hand; while we have ideas for funding of the actual equipment we would also need some support with regards to planning stages etc... (we are a little hung on this right now)

If you have anyone who you think would have any further opinions / ideas on this, get them to come along and post a comment!

I agree with your feelings RE the theme, it would be dated now, but I also think that the Western theme fits pretty nicely, so maybe rather than re-inventing the park as “modern” maybe bringing the theme up to date would be better?

There is no mistake in that this sort of project is massively ambitious, and while the chances of it happening may be slim, I personally think it’s worth the shot. Some of you may also remember Southport, and the group that tried to help save the park and Cyclone, before the Thompsons decided it would be a nice idea to send in a 20 tonne digger and destroy all its heritage, part of that group is involved with this, and we would really, really like to see this happen. There is a unique funding opportunity available, and with the right support it’s certainly not impossible!

This may not be the best forum for you to raise this proposal as not many people seem to respond to posts on this website.  Why don't you publish your proposal in the Visitor as plenty of people read the paper and there are a lot of readers with quite strong opinions!!!  This is an important issue for the future of Morecambe as the site as it stands is nothing but an eyesore,  and it would be good to see it debated publicly so that we can get a consensus and get something done - and done sooner rather than later.

Still not convinced about the Wild West theme - why not consider tying into the art deco theme of the Midland instead?

Good luck!!!
