Hi everyone

We came to live in Morecambe last year and feel privileged to live here.  With the stunning view out across the bay towards the Lake District it is in one of the most beautiful locations in England and should be the jewel in the crown of Lancaster City Council.

Instead the Council has allowed the town to become shabby and is doing nothing to improve the frontage and general condition of much of the property adjacent to the prom and the town centre.  We have few major stores here now, there's little nightlife, they're closing down the Dome, there's no funding for the Winter Gardens, the toilets close to the beach have been closed down, the remains of Frontierland are almost derelict, and there's dog mess everywhere.

Add to that the insane traffic system you have to get through from the M6 to get into and out of Morecambe, and is it any wonder so few visitors come here.

I am so angry at the way the Council are failing the people of Morecambe.  Without investment, trade will continue to decline and even more businesses will go to the wall - more jobs lost, more lives ruined, more jobless people, more people unable to pay their Council Tax - and less revenue for the Council therefore less money to spend on the town.

Now is the time for everyone who cares about the future of Morecambe to get together and form an Action Group.   There was a programme on TV the other night where the residents of a town (I forget where) got involved in voting for how the money was spent in their town.  It's a brilliant idea and is working well for that town, and would work really well for Morecambe.

We'd be willing to get involved in something similar and hope that everyone on this forum will agree and come up with some ideas on how we can all get our heads together and fight for the future of Morecambe.

Over to you folks!
