I will be visiting from Australia in late July/early August to visit the house where my father grew up.

I have the address and would dearly love to have a look at the house. It was 8 hawthorn road and I'm not sure if it is still standing or even if the road is still there. I don't want to intrude on anyone however i would dearly love to visit the house and see the town that my father was born in.

Also do people know of some nice accommodation in the area over that time? Nothing too flash, just somewhere nice and central

Cheers

I have just joined the Morecambe website and discovered your note about visiting Morecambe. Hawthorn Road is still there, in an area of the resort called Torrisholme. A very nice, wide road, with a mixture of semis and bungalows. If you visit the Green Room coffee house in Euston Road, just 20 yards from the central promenade, you will find the owners, Carol and John, who live in Hawthorn Road, not far from number 8. There are a number of decent, small private hotels including the Yacht Bay View Hotel, on Marine Road East, very handy for the town centre. Hope you have a great visit. Mike Whalley.
