Hi Lanky: Even though I went to the National school we went to the dentists between Euston Rd School and the Police Station. So you are correct. This was even back before 1950.

The school dentist was somewhere in between Euston Rd School & the Police Station wasn't it? Was the clinic there too? I remember those little bottles of concentrated orange juice & later, rose hip syrup from there. Posts: 8 | From: Perth, Western Australia | Registered: Feb 2002 | IP: Logged

Hi everybody, I remember the council person with no arms, he was Scottish and known as "Jock". I worked with him in the 60's in the Parks dept. He had specially adapted things which could let him do almost anything. In the summer he worked on the bowling greens in Regent Park and in the winter he worked top dressing and spiking the greens. He was then employed in the Coucil greenhouses at White Lund Rd. He washed plant pots and all sorts of jobs and was as good as any able-boddied person. Oh what a page this is, memories keep flooding back everyday when I check what's going on. Posts: 29 | From: Chester | Registered: May 2001 | IP: Logged

hi
i remember the odeon saturday morning club. my first date didn `t show and i took 3 yrs to ask another girl out !!!
it was 6d entrance and after too much noise, they put the lights on , stopped the film , and threatened to chuck us out.
i remember opening the fire escape to be let in for nothing, but that was probably later
happy days !
does anyone remember the corporation cleaner with artificial arms ?? he used to catch the school bus to go to work..................................... one winter morning the bus skidded and he fell out of the back of the bus! not hurt, but very angry !

hi dave and elaine.i dont remember any of the names or the church and priory gardens.i thought i would remember more, but now i am talking to someone it makes me realize how much i've forgotten.one name i do remember is garry jackson, and the teacher for 1b had a limp.her name may have been dixon.i seem to remember she was a cousin of a teacher i had at west end.there was also a girl who was quite big and as tall as me,about 6feet. she lived at the end of needham ave and a boy named david patterson who lived close. most of my memories ars of the west end.my grandmother ran a boarding house on the corner of albert rd and regent rd?i think it was.one street back from regents park.also sneaking into the baths during summer holidays when somebody dropped their pass over the side to us.the same aplied to the odeon when somebody opened the back door.it was all inocent fun though not like nowadays. its got pretty bad over here in the last few years,i supose its the same there.well i,d better go now.apologise to your friends dad for me elaine.talk to you both soon. bill Posts: 5 | From: perth wa australia | Registered: May 2001 | IP: Logged

Hello, My friend's Dad had a sweetie shop for many years near Euston Road School. I remember it was just by the market stalls. His name was Webster. His daughter is called Sandra. He retired many years ago. Elaine. Posts: 66 | From: Ballachulish, Scotland. | Registered: May 2001 | IP: Logged

Hi Bill, I must admit to not remembering your name. My surname is Midgley and was in 1b in 1964 and 2b in 1965. Will any of these names ring a bell: Stephen Sanderson, Dennis Blagg, Mervyn Watson, Michael Knowles, Peter Schelling..... I lived at Priory Villas which was near the Church (near Needham Ave?) until 1966 when we were forced to move to Branksome Drive due to Priory Villas being demolished to make way for the Police Station. I visit Morecambe fairly often, and am surprised at how different parts of it look, but how other parts have changed little. Yes, the sweet shop, I remember that very well! Is it still there? No, I don't think it is, although I'm sure there is a shop of some description there. When you get the hang of the Internet and this site in particular, Peter has made his chat room very accessible. Just follow the instructions and you'll be in there before you know it! Trouble is, every time I've visited it, there's only me there!! We must arrange a date and time when you are more confident. G'day! Dave Posts: 44 | From: Lancs/Yorks border | Registered: May 2001 | IP: Logged

I know Euston Road School only had about 200 pupils, but maybe someone, somewhere reading this will either remember me, or will at least have attended during the years shown. Mr Baldwin, Mr Jones, Mr Atkinson, Mr & Mrs Wolstencroft, Mr Bleasdale, Miss Jessop (cor, remember HER!!!). etc...may bring back nightmares, so let's talk Morecambe in the sixties....
