What a wonderful event Morecambe’s Catch the Wind Festival turned out to be this year. The weather, the people, the kites - all amazing.
I’d like to thank all of those involved in making this event such a success and all of you who showed your support. Gill Haigh (Lancaster City Council), Kathryn MacDonald (More Music), Cllr. Ron Sands and David Holt (DH Kites) all appear in the video clip and do a wonderful job at these events to draw in the crowns.
This really is the magic of Morecambe!

Mort Allan
MORT Allan, one of the best known and most popular showbiz entertainers in the North-west, died in the Royal Lancaster Infirmary [in 2003] after a long and brave battle against cancer. He was 66. Originally part of a successful clubland double act with veteran Bolton entertainer Norman Vernon, Mort went on to establish himself as a top class compere at leading northern nightclubs Blightys in Farnworth and Fagins in Manchester.

Carnforth hotel evacuated
Twenty-six people were moved from the Truckhaven Hotel to the nearby Pine Lake resort after the ground floor was flooded under 30cm of water and cars in the car park were submerged right up to their wing mirrors.

This awful crime occurred at around 2am on Monday 13th. A homeless man was sleeping in a bus shelter when 3 idiots set fire to his blanket. How small does your brain have to be to find setting fire to a 60 year old tramp funny?
