What if!

Dear Caroline,

I am 19 year old nursery nurse. Quite often I babysit for a couple of boys who attend the nursery, this was fine up until about 6 weeks ago. It was then that the boy's dad asked me if he could give me a kiss, I said no and thought that was the end of the matter. However after that day I couldn't get him out of my head, and kept thinking "what if...".

I later found out that fellow work mates suspected that something was going on between us and my boss even told his wife!! When I found out I warned him to watch what he was saying in the nursery as staff were making up romours, after which point we had a big talk and told each other how we really felt about each other and have now been having a relationship behind his wife's back for just over a week.

I know I should probably end things now before they get too serious but the trouble is I don't think I can, I know he and his wife have been unhappy for some years as both have told me so on many occasions. I am just so confused, what do you think I should do?

Hi Donna,

There's no 'What If'

My advice to you is to stay well clear of this man who is just boosting his ego with his flirtations with you, he is married and you've got your reputation and job future prospects to think about. Find another baby-sitting job, keep your mouth shut over this kiss, and don't give people anything to gossip about it may well cost you a job a moral reputation and any future jobs that you may go for and totally ruin your career and life.
