I could be pregnant!

Dear Caroline

I made a really big mistake of sleeping with a guy at a party and we didn't use contraceptives. I did however go to the doctor the next day for the morning after pill. The problem is that my periods are not very regular anymore and they only last a few days. Could this be anything to do with the pill or do you think that I might be pregnant. I have heard that you can still have periods when you are pregnant. Is this true? and do you think that I could be pregnant? Please help!!!

P.S I am only 15 so this really scares me!

Hi Silly Girl,

Always, yes always wear protection and do safe sex! If he doesn't have one then either say no or buy your own (female version), At 15 you don't really want to be getting pregnant do you, you've your life to have yet babies and all that can wait till you're 30+...

However, you did the right thing in contacting a GP for the morning after pill, It saved the day, and yes you could still be pregnant but I doubt it if you took the pill within 48 -72 hrs it should have done the trick! Any other concerns that you may have about the effects should be talked over with your GP in strict privacy.

Some instances women get pregnant and still have periods, and some instances women get pregnant and their periods stop, it really depends. Go to your Gp and explain that your bleeding is irregular and ask to have your urine tested, all you do is ring up and arrange a convenient time to drop off your sample of urine, hand it in and then ask when to ring in for test results, as simple as that! No one will know. Only you when you ring for the results. Then you'll have to deal with the answer good or bad.

I really hope that next time you have sex so quickly and thoughtlessly you'll be a little wiser and either be prepared or suffer the consequences of your actions.

Regards

Caroline
